Description

At Industrial Shed, our Zinc Metric Hex Bolts are fully threaded with a hexagonal head, designed for applications requiring direct threading into machinery or equipment. These bolts provide robust, secure fastening without the need for an additional nut, offering versatility and strength across various industrial uses.
Our selection includes a range of sizes and lengths to meet diverse project requirements, ensuring compatibility and reliability for your specific applications.

Material / Coating: Zinc plating is the most common coating for fasteners, valued for its low cost and shiny, bright silver finish. A thin layer of zinc is applied through electroplating or mechanical methods, making it suitable for indoor use. While some may use zinc-plated fasteners outdoors, it’s not recommended if corrosion resistance is a priority.

For outdoor applications where durability against the elements is essential, we recommend choosing from our stainless steel range.

Grade vs. Class Difference: Imperial fasteners are categorised by "grades," while metric fasteners are categorised by "classes." Both use marking systems to indicate their grade or class.

For example, a ½” UNC bolt with 5 lines on the head is a grade 8, and 3 lines indicate a grade 5—both considered high tensile.

Metric bolts differ slightly: a marking of 4.6 indicates mild steel, while 8.8 indicates high tensile.

Stainless fasteners use markings to show material grade and strength. For instance, G304 stainless may be marked as A2-70, G304, A2, or 304, while G316 stainless may have markings like A4-70, G316, A4, or 316.

Thread Pitch (Metric): Thread pitch refers to the distance between the peaks of two threads on a screw, bolt, or fastener, measured in millimeters (mm). It is commonly used for metric fasteners. For instance, a thread pitch of 1.50mm indicates that the distance from one thread peak to the next is 1.50mm.

Fastener Length: This is typically measured from the point where the fastener meets the surface of the material to its end. For fasteners with heads that sit above the surface, the length is measured from underneath the head to the tip. For those designed to sit flush with the surface, the length is measured from the top of the head to the end of the fastener.

Dimensions: Please note our stock is sourced from various suppliers, therefore differences may exist between batches such as height, width, visible stamped markings, appearance or actual finish.
